A thief wants to be rich in a day by stealing. A liar desires to make an immediate gain by falsehood. A cheat tries to rob a person of his wealth by evil methods. But they fail in their attempts in the end. They can never win respect from people around them. They always suffer from anxieties. They are never happy in life.

Honesty leads to success and happiness: Honesty on the other hand leads to success and happiness. An honest man is loved by all. He is believed by everybody. Besides wealth is not the only means of happiness in life. The mental peace and social respect belong only to the honest and they cannot be bought for money. In fact an honest poor man is much happier than a dishonest rich man.

It should be acquired by practice: Honesty, like all other virtues, may be acquired by practice. Speaking the truth is the best road to honesty. A person who does not tell a lie cannot adopt unfair means. A truthful man is always punctual, dutiful and straight forward.

Conclusion: An honest man suffers from wants for the time being, but he is sure to get rid of his wants in the long run. He gets help from all quarters. So, for success and happiness in life, honesty is the best policy.
