A School Library

(244 words, 5 paragraphs, 23 lines)

Introduction: A library is a collection of books of various kinds. Every high school has a library. It contains books of reference on all the subjects as well as books of juvenile interest. It is intended for the use of teachers and students.

A property of the school: A school library is the property of a school. It is not open to outsiders. Only the teachers and students can borrow a book from the school library. But they cannot take books out of the library without the permission of the librarian. When they borrow books and take them outside the library they should take care not to damage them.

Useful to teachers: A school library serves a very useful purpose. It helps a teacher to prepare himself thoroughly for great benefit from the school library. If a student reads only his text-books, he will not know all about the subjects of his study. He must read out-books on those subjects.

Useful to students: A school library helps the students in many other ways. When a student has to write an article for the school magazine, he must go through out-books. When a student has to discuss a subject in a debate, he must consult out-books. It is the school library which can give him such an opportunity.

Conclusion: Students should not only read the selected books. They should also go through some out-books for gaining knowledge. So every school should have a school library.
