Introduction: Hobby is a favourite occupation of a man. It is not his main business. It is usually followed during leisure.

Preparation: My favourite hobby is gardening. I have turned a small plot of land into a garden. This is just in front of our house. I have enclosed it with a strong fencing of bamboo sticks. I feel so happy when I look at my young plants in flower.

Working in the morning: I get up from sleep early in the morning and go into my garden. Then flowers bloom in plenty. I am charmed at their beauty and my heart dances when they nod in the gentle breeze.

In the afternoon: After my school hours in the evening. I also go to my garden. I pull up weeds and grasses around the roots of my plants. I turn up the soil around them and make them loose with the help of a hand-spade. I also water the plants if necessary. I find pleasure in spending a quiet time in the garden. Then I go to my reading room with a mind full of freshness and energy.

Usefulness: Some of my friends wonder why I should give my time and thought to such a work. It is mere loss of time, they seem to say. This is not what I feel or think. The one hour spent in my garden is not lost. This strengthens my body and refreshes my mind. Then I can take to my studies with a fresh mind. This is why I have never done badly in my school.

Conclusion: Hobby provides for leisure and recreation to our body and mind. Everybody should have a hobby.
